Green Mark (Taiwan)
Taiwan's Ministry of Environment (formerly the Environmental Protection Administration) / Taiwan
Overview
Taiwan's Green Mark is an environmental labelling scheme for which the logo design was selected, trademarked, and announced by Taiwan's Environmental Protection Administration (now the Ministry of Environment) on March 19, 1992. Its design drew on precedents from Germany, Japan, Canada, the Nordic countries, the United States, and the EU. As an ISO 14024-compliant Type I ecolabel, it is founded on the principles of recyclability, low pollution, and resource conservation. In its first year of operation (through June 1993), only 2 companies and 5 products were certified; by the end of 2022, this had grown to 128 active certification criteria and 5,110 actively certified products, a level said to be comparable to the Nordic countries, Japan, Germany, Canada, and the United States.
