[Supply Chain] JX Advanced Metals Begins Full-Scale Sales of Rolled Copper Foil Made with 100% Recycled Copper Raw Material

JX Advanced Metals Corporation (JX金属) announced on October 26, 2026 that it began full-scale sales of rolled copper foil made with 100% recycled copper raw material in October 2026, as one of its "Cu again" series of 100% recycled copper products. Rolled copper foil is used as a material for flexible printed circuits (FPCs) mounted in smartphones, wearable devices and mobility equipment. According to the company, it holds a global market share of about 80 percent in rolled copper foil for FPCs. The company already offers 100% recycled electrolytic copper and high-performance copper alloy products made from 100% recycled raw material, and has now extended the range to rolled copper foil. The product uses copper refined from recycled raw material collected by the company's group companies, in a process that includes a dedicated smelting furnace introduced in 2025. The company explains that melting only recycled raw material to make the foil made 100 percent recycled copper raw material possible. It states that its rolled copper foil requires copper with fewer impurities than other companies' products in order to achieve high flexibility and support fine-pitch circuits, and that its proprietary impurity separation technology, together with operating know-how, enables stable production at a quality unchanged from conventional products. No quality metrics or comparison conditions have been published. UL certification is to be applied in the future.
Editor's View

The "100 percent" in the release refers to the copper raw material, not to the product as a whole. The company explains that quality is kept unchanged from conventional products while using only recycled raw material, but it has not published quality metrics or test conditions, sales volume, customers or the reduction in environmental impact, and UL certification is planned for the future. The quality and environmental effects are therefore, at this point, limited to the company's explanation. The global market share of about 80 percent in rolled copper foil for FPCs is also the company's own figure, and no independent source has been confirmed.
